Game Programming: Introduction Course for Beginners

It's time to stop being afraid of video games - according to experts, they not only do not spoil your vision and character, but can develop logic, abstract thinking, motor skills, imagination and memory. And they can also open the door to the world of high technology.

At CODDY, we believe that game development is a great way to turn a hobby into an educational activity, and at the same time prepare for school or improve your grades in school.

Our teachers have developed a free video course that introduces your child to popular game development platforms and languages. This is a great opportunity to try yourself in programming, discover new talents and choose a direction for further study.

We'll prove that games can be created by kids of any age, from preschoolers (Scratch and Kodu Game Lab) to middle and high school students (Python and Unity3D). 

Learn more about the course

The aim of this course is to get acquainted with different programming environments and platforms and to learn the basics of creating games in each of them. Choose the most interesting and suitable level of knowledge in order to study it in more detail on advanced courses.

For the youngest students (4 to 6 years old) we tell them how to create the legendary Pacman game in Kodu Game Lab - visual constructor from Microsoft, which allows you to create three-dimensional games without knowledge of basic programming languages.

Together with kids 7 to 10 we will create our first project using Scratch, a simple and clear programming environment developed at the legendary MIT especially for kids. It makes the learning process fun and accessible to everyone.

Kids 11 and up will be interested in Unity3D - a very popular engine for developing three-dimensional games that is used by the most famous developers such as Blizzard, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, and Wargaming.

During the course you can also get acquainted with Python - a popular programming language that professional programmers around the world use to create games and not only.

What do I need for the class?

You will need a computer with internet access for the class.
