Andrey Koshelev came to CODDY as a student, and now he is already teaching new children in our school! We have always known that we prepare our students to attend the best universities, work in the leading IT companies and start their own business. And now we are seeing the results! Our very first students are growing up, going to university and already working in their professions. There is more to tell, but first let us talk to Andrei. He told us about his story and his plans for the future.
How old were you when you came to CODDY? What course were you taking?
I was 14 years old. I attended the course "Unity 3D" - game development with the popular engine. This technology is used by such giants as Blizzard, Ubisoft and Wargaming.

Why did you choose our school? Were your expectations justified?
The school was close to my home. I had no interest in programming before, but when I saw the ads, I decided to give it a try. The expectations were fully met, I started programming a lot in Unity and not only that, it became easier to study other IT directions in school and college.
What did I like about the classes at CODDY?
Classes were in small groups and in a nice room. Friendly teachers who were able to convey the material in an interesting way.
What was your first introduction to programming? How did the desire to develop further in this field come about in the first place?
I learned about programming on CODDY, before that I was only computer enthusiastic and admired programmers and hackers in movies, but never considered this profession for myself. On CODDY I was shown that anyone can do it if I just have the desire. When I started the course, I understood how modern games are developed and I realized that I would be very interested in creating my own applications and implementing my ideas in them.

What were your next steps in programming after school?
After finishing the CODDY course, I started to study other programming languages on my own. I prepared for OGE and later for USE, where I took computer science. The exams were easy for me because I already had some experience in programming and it was easy to learn new languages.
Where are you studying/working now?
I am studying at the National Research University Higher School of Economics majoring in Information Security, working at CODDY, teaching kids how to create 3D models in Blender, teaching a course on cybersecurity, and previously worked as a tutor for school children.
What is your global dream in the professional field?
My dream is to open my own mobile game development company.
What is most important in teaching? What should the teacher be like?
The teacher should be able to remain calm and present the lesson clearly so that students do not pretend to understand when they do not. Students should not be afraid to ask questions, as this is also part of the teacher's job. It is important that you know what you are talking about and that you can assess the level of your students so that they are not overwhelmed and stay on topic.
Is every child easy to reach? Or is it difficult?
Each child needs a different approach. You should not give the same material to the whole group, because the students' level of preparation is different, and the teacher should understand that.
What do you like most about your job?
I like the fact that you can work on the weekends. So you can combine your studies with your work.
We are very proud of our Andrei and we are sure that he will achieve his goals. The most important thing is to take small steps every day and not to be afraid of difficulties along the way.
