Over the years, he has taught a wide range of courses in mathematics and computer science at the University of Chicago, University California at Los Angeles, North Dakota State University, and at St. Petersburg State University. For a long time he has also managed analytics and planning departments at the Finnish manufacturing companies Atria and Valio.
He is fond of running and hiking, especially in the mountains. He enjoys to solve problems and to help others learn how to solve their very own problems.
